CULT IMAGE are no more, and to celebrate/commiserate the end we’re having our last gig at, where else? The Dog and Parrot.

Doors open at 8:30pm with propa DJs Tom Longstaff (Dragnet Warm up) & Martin Shaw (Jukebox/Hard to Love) providing ear nectar throughout the night.

We’re drafting in a few familiar faces on the night to see our mini back catologue off in style so expect some self indulgent harp backs to times past.

RETRIEVER / Cult Image – Split Single Launch

…and so for the next instalment of the Splash one saga, we are imploding with joy to be able to bring together two of our finest affiliated bands for a joint release.

RETRIEVER – now on to their 4th release with Splash One

will be joined by..

CULT IMAGE – despite having a long running connection with the label this will be the debut Splash One outing by these fine purveyors of fully charged and charming indie pop wonder.

Something we’ve been hoping to put together all year, is finally in the can and happening.

To celebrate we are hosting a launch event featuring both bands playing live plus support from extra special guests.

EXCITING NEWS FOR 2011….

Retriever ‘Murder’ Remix EP Joint release with Berlin’s RELISH records.

We have teamed up with Berlin’s fantastic punked out mutant disco label RELISH Records to hammer out a joint remix release of Retriever’s ‘Murder’. Remixes come from legendary neo mutant disco & twisted electro artist HEADMAN, as well as our own ANTI-TANK and NUN.After bonding with Relish records lynchpin Robi Insinna (over a shared love of David’s Bowie and Byrne) it was not long before the idea of a joint Splash One / Relish remix EP came up.  So coming together to present a very different side to Tyneside fuzz merchants Retriever the results are here to be heard. Retrievers unholy mix of 60’s garage, 70’s krautrock and 80’s post punk is given the re rub treatment !

1. Murder : Headman Remix

Headman turns in an electro funk monster that puts Retrievers dark hymn through the punky disco ringer, retaining all of it’s attitude and adding a heavy slice of moody groove. This track acts as a perfect companion piece to Headman’s ’1923′ album.

2. Murder : NUN Remix

NUN (AKA Naked Under Napalm) are a loose collective of Tyneside musicians including members of Anti-Tank, Saigon Tiger, Retriever, Cult Image and others, helmed by the Splash One production team. NUN come up with a mix that has been described as John Carpenter jamming with Bauhaus in a Bristol junkyard. A clanking clattering gem that tip’s it’s hat to everything from early industrial music to gothic post punk, trip hop and exploitation soundtracks.

3. Murder : ANTI-TANK Remix

ANTI-TANK (mysterious duo from the Cheviot hills) meanwhile unleash a driving Hi NRG monster that displays their love of upbeat sexual disco, body music and glam rock. This is a banging track that makes no apologies for relentlessly hammering any listeners into hopeless sexual submission. LOVE IT!

4. Murder : Retriever Original

The original Retriever single version is also included as part of the package. A stunning release of primal rock n roll beauty.
While further collaboration between Retriever and Relish can be found on Headman’s Blue Boys’ (Blue Girls version) single where Jackie Miller of Retriever provided vocals. Not part of this release package, however the track is available separately for download.
